About me

Born in South Africa to British parents (a Geordie beauty queen and Sunderland’s first punk), I was raised as an african wild child in Botswana, before being released onto London’s streets in my late teens.

The life of a teacher’s child is never easy, and ever since I was a little girl, my mother has armed me with an encyclopedia of paranoid ‘advice’.  ‘Don’t run with lollipops in your mouth’, ‘Boys tease you when they like you’, ‘Always eat your sprouts’.

One of her particular numbers that played out (sometimes on loop) in the soundtrack of our lives (her motives being to drum it in from a young age?) could be documented and titled ‘The Dangers Of Italian Men’.

“Never marry an italian man, stay away from the italians,” she would say to my sister and I.

“Why mum? Isn’t grandad half italian?” little me would ask.

“Because they’ll promise you the world. Then when you get married to them, they’ll have you barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen while they are out playing cards with their mates in the bar.”

And just like a movie, we fast forward 15 years, to January 2012.

I have given up my role as a TV producer in London to move to Rome….to start a new life with an ITALIAN  MAN.

…and after 5 years together, my mother still assures me, he is not like the italian men she warned me about!

Love isn’t finding someone you can live with. Its finding someone you can’t live without.
The perfect solution to an everlasting relationship.

Did you mean: Love isnt finding someone you can live with. It is finding someone that you can not live without. The perfect solution to an everlasting relationship.

Sono completamente d’accordo e ho trovato quella persona.
I agree completely and I have found that person.
